Thanont Golf View & Sports Club is situated on the outskirts of Bangkok and takes around 50 minutes to reach coming from downtown. Several large shopping malls in the area provide accompanying non-golfers have a variety of things to do.
American golf course architect Bob McFarland designed the Thanont golf course. Water and a massive housing development surround the entire golf course and Thanont while flat has some exciting hole layouts. There is a challenge for the accomplished golfer as well as relief for the less skilled. This course will provide a pleasurable round of golf to golfers of all abilities. Most holes require strategy on each shot to score well. Greens are OK but can be slow at certain times of the year.
There are several notable holes including five with island greens. Holes 1, 2, 3, 7, 9, and the finish to the 18th are all played on separate islands. This starting hole is a monster 463 yard par-4. A long and accurate tee shot is needed to have a par chance and avoid the out-of-bounds left and large bunker complex to the right. The approach shot requires a long iron or fairway wood to a reasonably open green. The Bangkok golf course signature holes are the long par-4 9th and the par-5 18th. At both holes, players have to negotiate a vast lake which protects the green.
