Royal Birkdale has hosted the Open Championship 9 times and The Ryder Cup once and is ranked in the top courses in the world and is definitely the top golf course in the country. A player favourite amongst the British Open rota courses, it is known to be fair links unlike some others – as the ball is more likely to stay on the fairway if hit well and proper. The Royal Birkdale golf course can be monstrous for the average golfer – especially if the wind is up. But then, that’s the least to expect from a links course.
